I am a Scuba Enthusiast and enjoy the peace and serenity of scuba diving. The things I see happening sometimes in our lakes and oceans really bug me. I'm talking about pollution... and it's not really the food wrapper and the empty soda can that bugs me most, but come on people... do your part to keep our waters clean.
What bugs me most is that the pollution from manufacturing facilities use huge quantities of freshwater to carry away wastes of many kinds. The waste-bearing water, or effluent, is discharged into streams, lakes, or oceans, which in turn disperse the polluting substances. Plus these waste bearing fluids that get discharged are typically hot and are changing the natural environment of the water. This alone creates a problem of plants and wildlife that do not like warmer water and over-growth of plants and wildlife that do.
Another major source of water pollution concern come from our towns and municipalities. Sewage facilities do a pretty good job of cleaning bacteria, but they don't remove everything... I certainly would not drink the water that comes out of these manufacturing plants and neither should our plants and wildlife. Rain drainage is another major polluting agent because it carries such substances as highway debris... including oil and chemicals from automobile exhausts and more. I think this is a major problem up where I live, near Lake Erie in Buffalo, New York. In the summer months, beaches are constantly getting closed for water contamination concerns. I'm sure it's a combination of contaminated rain drainage systems carrying who knows what from the highway and possible some faulty residential sewer systems.
Of course... there is a lot of pollution from natural disasters too and there is really nothing we can do about that. When Hurricanes, Earthquakes, Floods, Fires and more occur... the only thing we can do is help out and get it cleaned up as fast as possible.
You know what they say - if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem! This is what interest me in using organic and biodegradable products in my home. I recently started using the Shaklee Get Clean products after a friend introduced them to me. Shaklee is an amazing company and they are doing their part to keep the world clean. Shaklee Get Clean Household Cleaning Products offer Safe, Powerful, Green & Smart… concentrated, nontoxic, biodegradable cleaning that use less packaging and less product than other conventional cleaners. No harmful toxins like chlorine, ammonia, phosphates and formaldehyde are found in Shaklee Products. Get Clean is powered by natural enzymes and sustainably-derived ingredients, and are never tested on animals.
Dr. Forrest Shaklee founded the company on the principle of Living in Harmony with Nature. That was over half a century ago, and Shaklee continues to lead by example. Last year... through the sale of Shaklee Get Clean Basic H2 alone, Shaklee has eliminated 2.7 billion bottles of conventional 26-ounce window cleaner... if you placed these bottles end-to-end, they would wrap around the earth more than 18 times!
From explorer Jacques Cousteau, to 2004 Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Wangari Maathai, Shaklee continues to join forces with people who care about the planet enough to create movements of change. In the last year alone, we have recycled over 1,000,000 pounds of cardboard, eliminated over 10,200,000 pounds of packaging waste, and eliminated over 23,000,000 pounds of greenhouse gases. That’s how committed we are to making truly sustainable natural products that respect the earth.
