I retired from full time work in 2000 and part of my severence package included a divemaster course which I took with Cydive in Cyprus. During the couse, I discovered that Divemasters took on a number of responsibilities and liabilities, which to be honest I was not happy with. I love to help people where I can, so I actually changed to become a Master Scuba diver, gaining the knowledge to dive saafly in various environment and being able to assist others but without having to be responsible for others. I have dives in Cyprus, Oman, and Malaysia and hope soon to do some dives in the Philippines where I now live. Living in the tropics means often you can can just use a snorkle and mask to enjoy the sport.
